Your data, your records
The biggest fear with software you do not own the source of is being trapped. This is our answer: you own your data, and you can always take it with you.
The commitment

If a licence lapses
BastraLekha slows down. It never destroys.

Never, in any state: deleting or encrypting your data, blocking export, blocking records you must keep by law, or stopping a running system without notice.
Payment stuck in treasury? Government payments get held up. APIE can issue a signed short extension straight away, so trading carries on while it is sorted out.
Why this is safe for a cooperative
A cooperative society in Odisha must keep its records for the periods the Co-operative Societies Act and its auditors require. A system that could lock those records away would be a liability to the society and to us. So the guarantee is built into the software, not just written in the contract: reading and exporting are allowed in every licence state, a test proves it for each state, and the software has no permission to delete any record.
